Logan Byrnes has more than 15 years of anchoring and reporting experience. He has covered dozens of live breaking news stories during the past 7 years while anchoring the 6 hour Fox Connecticut weekday morning news from 4:00 am to 10:00am, including the Newtown school shooting massacre, the arrest of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the arrest of New England Patriot player Aaron Hernandez, the arrest of Times Square bombing suspect Faisal Shahzad, and the Hartford Distributers mass workplace shooting.
Byrnes also received widespread recognition for anchoring 8 ½ hours of straight live storm coverage in which the state received more than 2 feet of snow in 12 hours, paralyzing much of the state. In addition to anchoring and reporting, he also hosts numerous live televised events throughout the year including The Hartford Marathon, The Manchester Road Race, The Hartford St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Gubernatorial and Senatorial debates and Dream Wedding events including presiding over the wedding as a Connecticut Justice of the Peace.
Byrnes graduated from the University of Southern California, and obtained his law degree from Whittier College School of Law. He practiced law as a trial attorney in Los Angeles for several years before embarking on a career in broadcast journalism.
Prior to joining the Fox family, Byrnes was a correspondent for the nationally syndicated news program “Inside Edition.” Using his legal expertise, he covered a number of high-profile trials including those involving Kobe Bryant, Michael Jackson, and Robert Blake. He also provided in depth reports on Arnold Schwarzenegger's run for Governor of California. Byrnes was also a frequent correspondent on the red carpet, reporting on The Academy Awards, The Golden Globes, The Emmys, The Grammys, and many other award and celebrity events. He has interviewed numerous Hollywood celebrities including Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Alec Baldwin, and Christina Aguilera.
Byrnes has also contributed as an anchor on NBC’s “Early Today” and MSNBC’s “First Look” as well as providing various reports for CNBC’s “High Net Worth.”
While at NBC Connecticut, Byrnes anchored the number one morning news cast for several years. During that time, he covered the 9/11 terror attacks live from New York, and the Greenwich murder trial of Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel.
Byrnes has extensive traveling experience and has visited such countries as South Africa, Italy, France, Germany, England, Turkey, Israel, India, South Korea, Japan, Russia, Mexico, and Canada. He has tested himself by engaging in skydiving, helicopter skiing, multiple triathlons and a marathon. He is also a certified ski instructor and enjoys remodeling homes.
His father, Edd Byrnes, is an actor and writer, probably best known for his character "Kookie" on the hit 1950’s Television show "77 Sunset Strip." He also starred in a number of motion pictures and received widespread acclaim for his character, Vince Fontaine, in the movie "Grease." Byrnes’ mother was an actress and Television producer prior to joining Morgan Stanley Smith Barney where she is a Senior Vice President, Financial Adviser.
